Plymouth Public Library
The Junior Friends was originally founded to bring young people into the library, give teens a voice in the library, and to provide community service hours. It has developed into a vibrant group of young adults, ages 10 – 18, which actively supports the library through volunteering, fundraising, and sponsoring programs aimed at involving youth in the library. The group typically meets on the first Wednesday of the month, on a bimonthly basis: January, March, May, July, September, November. Join at any time.
The Junior Friends provide vital assistance with library events, including the books sales in summer and winter, the Storybook Breakfast, children’s programs and so much more. Teens and tweens might help out by wearing character costumes, setting up events, serving book sale customers, and assisting with children’s craft programs. Library staff keeps track of hours so Junior Friends members can get credit for hours served with any organization which requires volunteering.
